Designer Martin Elmer's Laconic History of the World map tracks past and present geo-political developments through an international vocabulary game. Instead of placing the name of each country upon the chart, he has placed a word or a statement that best characterizes the regions.

Elmer took to Wikipedia when making his informative portrayal of the globe. He would type in "History of___" into the search tool and in turn use some of the expressions that appeared, especially that which would fit into the physical boundaries of each nation. Approximately 100 terms are used here to relay developments that took place over thousands of years, offering a concise glimpse at events which are incredibly difficult to document upon a single page.
