The vibe and color composition of these new Hugo Spring/Summer 2009 ads by Mario Sorrenti remind me of the Fellini-inspired Miu Miu S/S '09 campaign.
Sorrenti captured models Adrian Bosch and Raquel Zimmermann with a warm hue of purple and blue colors in the background.
The result is very visually pleasing with an artistic vibe.
Implications - Just as the runway is used to promote new lines with often outrageous concepts, photoshoots can be completely avant-garde. Sometimes it takes more than just hot supermodels in fancy outfits to draw attention. Mario Testino's ads take an abstract artistic approach that's just as effective when it comes to marketing Hugo's new collection. When it comes to advertising, simple is good, but it also helps to add a dash of surrealism to really get the crowd going.
