Is traditional french luxury headed for revival? Acajou has released a new line that is being noticed. I first saw one of acajou’s hand painted mahogany vanities in the EKBB magazine (July 2007 issue). Check out their website www.acajoudesign.com; each design is truly individual, many of which have a definite WOW factor! I intend to follow the progress of this bathroom furniture company in my portfolio. I will keep you updated! I’ve posted a recent press release from acajou.
PRESS RELEASE (01st April 2007)
The company acajou are bringing a French revolution to the bathroom! acajou has been inspired by the designs and craftsmanship of the great French furniture makers of the 18th and 19th centuries, producing fabulous bathroom furniture that is unlike anything else on the market. Select pieces of acajou’s Le Manoir collection are currently displayed at Harrods, London. Bathtubs crafted in cast iron or copper and nickel; hand-painted cupboards, mahogany cabinets and chests; genuine marble vanity basins and countertops; mirrors and truly magnificent hand-sculpted baths carved from solid marble are all part of a range which pays homage to the elegant opulence of France’s golden age. However, these are not mass-produced reproductions. Each piece is an individual and unique work, reflecting acajou’s flair for design; craftsman-made and finished with painstaking attention to detail. acajou’s mission is to fulfil a very real need for bathrooms that combine luxury with true individuality. The company employs craftspeople whose traditional carving, painting and furniture-making skills have been passed down the generations, so each piece is effectively a work of art. An acajou bathroom is a celebration of this creativity, expressing the taste and personality of the client. acajou offers a bespoke hand-painted finishing service which allows customers, architects and interior designers to personalise the furniture to fit in with their own particular requirements. Traditionally dovetailed wooden units are made from solid mahogany, chosen to withstand humidity and obtained only from sustainable resources. acajou insists upon the finest materials, high technical specifications, craftsmanship and design excellence. Its unique product range of proven integrity meets the needs of a discerning clientele and brings a fresh and original perspective to bathroom design.
