Canadian company, Lululemon Athletica is recognized for its fitness fashions, particularly apparel designed for yoga.

As the company gains global recognition, with expansions into new markets like the US, Australia and Japan, their product lines are also become more diverse. Those familiar with Lululemon likely think of the Omega-branded spandex Yoga Pants that flatter just about every figure, or the ultra-cozy, fitted Scooba Hoodies.

Featured in the gallery is the Apres Yoga Jacket for chilly walks to and from the gym with an MP3 pocket and cord guide to make your walk even more enjoyable. It’s water-resistant and lined with microfleece, so even if the rain or snow begins, your gear will stay dry. The Om Jacket is so nice and long, it further emphasizes long, lean yoga bodies and the material is shear enough to fit under one of Lululemon’s other zip-ups. The Dance Studio Jacket is similar to the Scooba Hoodie, but is made of a more light-weight material. It also has an inner Ipod pocket that keeps it in place while exercising. In keeping with the dance theme, Lululemon also has a range of other dance-related items including the ultra-soft Jive Legwarmers.

Last but not least, the men’s wear line is well worth mentioning. Though many men still can’t get over the thought of themselves doing downward dogs, those that do embrace Lululemon’s apparel line, whether they do yoga or not, look irresistibly huggable. Each piece has such a great name too, like the “6 am Run Jacket,” the “Untight Tight” and “Down Dawg Pant.”

For those not familiar with Lululemon (yet), it’s worth knowing that the company is as recognized for its philosophy as its products. Their manifesto is “Creating components for people to live longer, healthier, more fun lives.”

After 20 years in the surf, skate and snowboard business, founder Chip Wilson took the first commercial yoga class offered in Vancouver and found the result exhilarating. The post yoga feeling was so close to surfing and snowboarding that it seemed obvious that yoga was an ideology whose time had come (again). Cotton clothing was being used for sweaty, stretchy power yoga and seemed completely inappropriate to Chip, whose passion lay in technical athletic fabrics. From this, a design studio was born that became a yoga studio at night to pay the rent. Clothing was offered for sale and an underground yoga clothing movement was born. The success of the clothing was dependant on the feedback from yoga instructors who were asked to wear the products and provide their insights. (lululemon)
