Lucifer - The Next Generation of Matchbooks (GALLERY)

Our friends at FeelAddicted.com bring us the next big thing in… matchbooks, I suppose.

Lucifer is a re-useable container for wooden matches. It’s designed to make striking the match as easy as possible; just shake to expose a match stick and pull through to light the head. The orange hole is lined with a stone grater material that automatically lights the match as it is passes through. The frictionless glass base keeps the match heads from accidentally lighting during the shaking, and keeps matchsticks from getting “stuck” on the inside. The base screws off for easy refills. It’s my understanding that this product is only in the design stages, so no word yet in terms of pricing or availability.

...and I want one. It makes me want to start smoking. Maybe that’s why it’s called Lucifer. Although I get the impression that this tool is intended more for kitchen/household use (candles, fireplaces, etc.), it would make a phenomenal conversation starter at a bar. Drunk people would go nuts for the magic fire that appears to come out of nowhere. I smell good times ahead. My only complaint (and again recognizing that it’s probably intended for household use) is that it’s not very pocket-friendly. Lucifer would be tough to carry around unless you have a bag or attache of sorts. Perhaps FeelAddicted could come up with a slimmer version in the future.

Bobby’s Prediction: Awesome, but I think I’ll curb my enthusiasm and wait for Little Lucifer.
