As far as sustainable structures go, the Liquid Building has to be one of the more sculptural ones out there. Based around a theme of fluidity, the Liquid Building is basically a collection of separate units, like bubbles in a cup. Taking on a strata-like formation, these 'bubbles' float toward each other to create an illusion of a liquid, hence its name.
Designed by Mohsen Marizad for an Emergent Territories Course at the Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia, the Liquid Building also boasts a type of intelligent skin system that functions as rainwater collectors and structural reinforcements, while reacting to environmental circumstances. This reaction comes in the form of Openings within the roof that adapt to seasonal changes. Thus, the Liquid Building is incredibly eco-conscious.
