Do people just not get your sense of humour? Do you come up with the cleverest, most witty lines in your head, only to have them shot down by others when you present them? Then you need to get your hands on this robot! It’s been programmed to recognize puns and will chuckle in response to your plays on words.

The robots could end up being really good for personal health too. They say laughter is the best medicine. They also say laughter is infectious. Many people believe that happiness can cure just about any disease. If you can have someone (or in this case, something) to laugh at your jokes, you’ll be roaring in no time too, thus keeping a happy vibration. Could this be the possible cure for cancer we’ve been looking for?

“The robot has an in-built dictionary and when it hears a word that seems out of place, it searches for words which sound similar to identify the pun,” BBC news reported. “Then it laughs.”

Other Universities have done similar studies and reports are available online. Check out what researcher at the University of Cincinnati have been up to.

University of Cincinnati researchers Julia Taylor and Larry Mazlack recently unveiled a "bot” — more accurately a software program — that recognizes jokes. They reported the development at the American Association for Artificial Intelligence conference in Vancouver, Canada. All bad jokes aside, their research represents a step forward in computers reaching the capability of a human mind. (uc.edu)
