Lalese Stamps Creates a Sculptural Seating Solution

Lalese Stamps works with a plethora of new materials, which branches out from the ceramist's usual work. She uses wood, fabric, and foam to create a sculptural seating solution. Founder of her own studio Lolly Lolly Ceramics, Stamps often works with water and clay but her neighbor proposed an interesting new route.
She often visited the Fortner workshop when working out of the Fort, which was a manufacturing plant belonging to Fortner Custom Furniture & Upholstery. The team was looking for an artist beyond the furniture industry to work with and Stamps was tapped to join. She notes, “Once I started to be able to see…what I can make by hand, like a small piece, I started to imagine bigger pieces and…the way that people interact with furniture has always been really fascinating to me."
