Yohji Yamamoto has always been very particular with the direction he takes Y-3 in. The clothing is informed by Japanese motorcycle gangs which are identified through the Bosozoku subculture. This is realized through numerous graphics — the 'Roaring Black Crow,' for example, "references both Yohji Yamamoto's early nickname and the clamor of bikes."
