It's A Nice Day For A Green Wedding
A growing number of eco-savvy brides and grooms are planning weddings that are eco-friendly… in line with their lifestyles, values and beliefs. This trend is being revealed in all aspects of today’s weddings- from vegan and fair-trade menu choices and biodegradeable plates and utensils, to vintage dresses, organic flowers and even rings crafted from 100% reclaimed gold.
Couples who live daily life being conscious of their impact on the environment, feel that by having an environmentally-friendly wedding they are actually adding meaning and making their special day that much more memorable.
MILLIE MARTINI BRATTEN, the editor in chief of Brides magazine, said that over the last five years the interest in green weddings has blossomed from a desire to incorporate a few green elements, like a vegan menu, to making sure the entire celebration won’t contribute to the depletion of natural resources. This may include finding halls that recycle, hiring caterers who use locally grown ingredients, decorating with potted plants that can be transplanted and using soy-based candles, rather than those of petroleum-based wax.
