XPENG’s physical AI division secured more than $900 million to expand its IRON platform, valuing the business at $6.3 billion. The funding round, led by IDG Capital with participation from Gaorong Ventures, Tencent and Alibaba, will support software and hardware development, AI model training, data generation, production facilities and international expansion.
IRON features 76 degrees of freedom across its body and 21 in each hand, along with three in-house Turing AI chips delivering up to 2,250 TOPS of computing power. XPENG plans to apply automotive-grade production and quality standards to the platform, with mass production targeted by the end of 2026 and initial deployments planned for company stores and campuses.
For industry buyers, the financing supports XPENG’s push to move humanoid robotics toward larger-scale manufacturing and commercial use, with customer deliveries in China and overseas markets planned for 2027.
