With the crazy amount of hours that people spend surfing Facebook, tweeting, reading news, playing online games, engaging in online gambling and even watching videos, it's time to take a good long hard look at how Internet addiction affects the populace.

That's the goal of the 'Maps of World's' infographic entitled 'Is Internet Addiction Real?' Addiction is defined in Webster's dictionary as a "compulsive need for and use of a habit forming substance, characterized by tolerance and by well-defined physiological symptoms upon withdrawal." Does that sound familiar to anyone you know related to their Facebook usage?

The infographic goes on to examine different kinds of Internet addiction, from gaming to porn to social media, using professionally acquired statistics and Internet polls. It's very interesting stuff and perhaps something anyone who spends several hours a day on the Internet should look at.
