These Herb Williams crayon sculptures are awe-inspiring works that require true vision and obsession with detail. They are colorful, unique, and the subjects of the sculptures make for interesting choices whose inspirations range from politics to junior high, music and animals.
At 37 years old, Williams' creative use of crayons was inspired by a dream and has resulted in a lucrative career ever since. While many would have probably used the crayons as drawing tools, according to Oddity Central, "Herb cuts ever crayon to size, using a double guillotine cigar cutter, before sticking them to a shaped mould, with industrial glue."
These mindblowing sculptures require thousands upon thousands of crayons and his workshop houses crates of 3000 of each color of crayon. The one-of-a-kind sculptures take anywhere between four months and a year to complete. Such was the case with a nude Marilyn Monroe mosaic he made from 250,000 crayons, which has sold for $25,000.
