The Happiness Hat designed by Lauren McCarthy might not be the best selling piece of headwear on the market, and it definitely isn’t the most pleasant for the user.

The comfortable looking Happiness Hat sports a sensor that measures cheek and mouth activity, and activates a motor to drive a metal spike into the wearer’s head if a smile is not detected. Through this sort of pain infliction, the user is conditioned to display a happy appearance!
