San Francisco-based photographer Hana Haley was originally inspired by high fashion editorials; however, after a while, she found that she lost connection with the world of glossy, haute couture images. Nowadays, she seeks inspiration in vintage, retro images that she finds online.

Haley admits she can be more compelled by a single, authentic moment of the human experience rather than anything represented in what she refers to as the "zany expensive fashion world." Her criteria for what constitutes a good photo, these days, is one that expresses genuine human emotion.

Her dreamy, faraway photographs convey a sense of timelessness; you can imagine yourself enjoying Haley's photographs in fifty years from now, or imagine someone from fifty years ago having the same appreciation. And while Haley does find inspiration in the past, she doesn't hopelessly try to recreate a certain era, a practice she finds completely devoid of creativity.
