Over the last five years, Halloween sales figures for costumes, candy and decorations have increased almost 35 per cent, according to a Halloween 2013 infographic by Blurbpoint.
American adults spend, at $1.9 billion, more than $600 million on costumes than children, continuing a trend that has seen a consistently upward trend from 2006 onwards. With many companies poised to capitalize on the influx of customers looking to make this year’s Halloween more memorable than ever, the most popular costume choices for this year are adventure-related costumes, followed by zombie costumes and princess costumes among children, according to the Halloween 2013 infographic.
Such is the popularity of this festive season, that overall numbers for taking children out trick-or-treating, decorating the house, carving a pumpkin, handing out candy, dressing in costume and hosting a party are all up from 2012.
