The Google Maps Gallery is giving users a history lesson for free. The gallery will expand on an older map that allowed companies and other users to make their own map with their own information. This new map system will provide different maps with historical information laid over top.

Google Maps has emerged as one of Google's most powerful and most popular tools. The Google maps gallery will be further expanding the Google mainstay while also integrating it better with things like Google Earth.

So far, maps that are available in the gallery includes a map of environmental change spots and a map of the American civil war. For those who want to put physical images to the words, this tool will be invaluable.
