Designer Ron Arad redefines the future of sunglasses with his new 3D-printed designs. The new collection is called 'Springs'. The frames of these glasses are made out of a nylon powder using special laser sintering (SLS) technology, the designer uses scraps for the smaller parts instead of using or purchasing metal parts. There are a beautiful range of frames with a variety of shapes and sizes, which are lightweight yet highly durable.
3D printing technology is quickly emerging into many different sectors and markets, and this new printing method is changing the way that many create and manufacture products. These glasses for example can be created in a very short amount of time: the quality is extremely high and carbon footprints are being reduced.
