Jamo Best's powerful series 'From Russia Without Love,' confronts the increased violence and hate crimes committed towards the LGBTQ community since the country passed a law banning gay propaganda.
Makeup artists Nicola Butler, Rhonda Morley Causton and Jen Fries help Best recreate the swollen, bloody faces of the victims overseas, illuminating how horrific and fearful the conditions they must try in survive in really are. The graphic nature of the images are shocking; but even more upsetting than the beaten and bruised subjects are their broken gazes, staring straight into the camera.
With this powerful series, Best attempts to create awareness and hopefully end the violence, humiliation and fear that is experienced in Russia daily.
