For those that love having French toast for breakfast, blog Food 52 has shared a fun recipe to transform the popular childhood morning meal into deep fried French toast sticks that are perfect for dipping into an array of sauces. This gourmet and carnival style take on the recipe makes for a great dessert.

The recipe to make these French toast sticks defers ever so slightly from the original cult favorite. Fresh bread or brioche sliced into sticks and then dipped in a mixture of egg, milk and aromatic spices such as cinnamon, cloves and ginger. Rather than cooking the bread in a skillet over a stove top, the bread sticks are dropped into hot oil till crispy brown, then covered in a layer of icing sugar and served with fruit.
