'Synaptics' has developed a standalone device that will revolutionize fingerprint scanning. While many of our mobile devices already feature fingerprint scanning, there is currently no standalone system that operates independently of the device on which it runs. This is problematic because if your mobile device is compromised with malware, there is no secure way of verifying your identity.

To combat this pressing security concern, Synaptics has developed 'Match-In-Sensor' technology that can be considered "the industry’s first fully hardware encapsulated fingerprint sensor and matching solution." The device relies on fingerprint image enrollment, advanced pattern storage and biometric matching technology to verify a print. The technology is not reliant on the security of the device, meaning any possible on-device threats are nullified.

The new technology is extremely important because hacking technology has improved immensely over the years. Synaptics new technology helps to protect against these threats by adding an extra layer of protection to our mobile devices.
