With all the earthquakes shaking up the world of late, it seems inappropriate to feature trivial furniture with earthquake connotations—for example, the Fault Line Bench. Nevertheless, in light of such tragedies, life still goes on and amazing work continues to be created.

Designed by Cameron Van Dyke, the Fault Line Bench takes on a simple yet jagged shape that is at once both eye-catching and subtle.

“A puzzle of interlocking Ipe plates,” according to Van Dyke, it doesn’t seem to have any faults except for the reference in its name.
