The Faile Street Art Crew Remix Old New York City Ballet Posters

By: Tia Clarke - Published: • References: booooooom & brooklynstreetart
What do you get when you cross a hip New York Street art crew with the New York City Ballet? ‘Les Ballets de Faile!’ is the result—a hodge podge of eclectic, culturally charged graffiti collages taking its cues from art deco, femme fetales and classic ballet poses. The images in this series of street art were re-appropriated by the well known Faile street art crew from the New York City Ballet’s old promotional posters. Some of the images even date back to the turn of the century.

The Faile street art crew put their unique spin on them by giving some of the elegant-looking ballerinas half sleeve tattoos and earrings. The women in the reproductions look like they would be more suited to working as barmaids in Brooklyn than gracing the ballet stage, but the combination of high art and urban street art is electric.
