Facebook has been waving its chequebook around recently and the Facebook Oculus Rift takeover is its latest venture. The company has bought the up and coming virtual reality company Oculus Rift for two billion dollars.

Facebook rules the day right now when it comes to social media, but it won't always be that way. As Facebook looks toward the future, it is diversifying its approach by acquiring new assets. The other big acquisition recently was the messaging platform Whatsapp which was a more expensive and bigger takeover, but the Facebook Oculus Rift takeover could hold more weight.

For right now, Facebook has said its goal is to improve the product and push it further, but with the platform, there are a ton of possibilities for Facebook. Stats for Social Media Virtual Takeovers Trending: This Year & Popular
