StepJockey combines technology and exercise in a fun app that calculates calories burnt as you walk up the stairs. The fight against obesity is a long and gruesome one -- “One in three Americans are obese, two in three are overweight,” says ABC news.
The UK’s Department of Health has endorsed a new program developed by StepJockey, including an app and site that accurately calculates and rates how many calories you’ve burnt throughout the day by taking the stairs.
The system is simple; there are smart signs found on each staircase that allow users to scan and track how many calories are being burnt. If a staircase hasn’t been labeled, StepJockey allows stair climbers to rate the staircase, including how many calories will be burnt.
