Architectural design firm Produkcija 004 has created what they call the Emergency Terminal in Croatia. While not given the prettiest name, the Emergency Terminal contrasts its use as a emergency building that offers healthcare, medical supply and laboratories with its translucent and glowing exterior. The result is a cool combination of simple, beautiful architecture and useful services. Good to see that design doesn’t need to be compromised for usefulness.  Measuring up to the high criteria of contemporary architecture, the institution, approximately 14,000 m2 in surface area, can serve 2 million citizens. The steel skeletal construction with supported ceiling plates meets the architectural demands of lightness and spatial variability.
