Old, broken skateboards destined for the landfill are now being repurposed into jewelry by a husband and wife eco artisan team. They collect unwanted skateboards, looking out for colorful multiple ones or those with great deck designs. The jewelry they make includes earrings, pendants, rings, cuff links, and bangles. Every piece is unique, right down to the last scuff mark and is finished with a nontoxic protective coating.
The Nova Scotia-based 2ReVert is committed to their environmentally friendly business. The ‘revert’ part of their business name refers to repurposing and recycling. ‘Vert’ is also French for green. Revert and vert are also skateboarding moves.
With Jann’s work in the recycling field and Jeff's knowledge of skating when he was younger, and also his background in the jewelry industry... well it all just fell together, and made perfect sense for us to try and save some skateboards from the landfill, make something with our hands, and get a little creative juice out of us both!
