In honor of researchers trying to decode the mystery of the meaning of the Easter Island hats this week, I scouted out some of the handmade designs these ancient relics have inspired. The history of this intriguing place off the coast of Chile has us captivated as it’s been said the red Easter Island hats date back to around 1200 when they were made using volcanic red scoria to symbolize “high birth and status,” according to Telegraph.
