UN goodwill ambassador Nicole Kidman is one of the many high-profile activists who combats domestic violence against women. According to the Associated Press, last Tuesday, Nicole Kidman presented UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon with an anti-domestic violence campaign that contained over five million signatures in honor of the International Day to Eliminate Violence against Women. Awareness is the first step towards enacting change. The campaigns below are both controversial and shocking—and intentionally so. These ad campaigns and PSAs evoke emotion from their viewers and thereby become memorable. While high-profile activism from the likes of Reese Witherspoon and Nicole Kidman certainly help to further the fight against domestic violence, it’s the shocking awareness campaigns below that make their message truly viral.
