Looking for an eco-friendly way to travel? The Bamboo Bike Studio in Brooklyn, NY is hosting weekend workshops to build your own bamboo bike.

Rather than using aluminum, steel and other non-environmentally friendly materials, the Bamboo Bike Studio uses locally produced bamboo to help promote an eco-friendly lifestyle.

The workshops run for the full weekend and patrons are taught how to put together a bamboo bike. Of course, they get to take their newly built bicycle home at the end.

The program is being recognized by several institutes who hope to build a similar bamboo bicycle factory in countries such as Ghana, Kenya and Ecuador.
