Jillian Mercado, a fashion reporter who suffers from muscular dystrophy and uses a wheelchair, most likely never thought she would turn out to be a model; but that is exactly what she is in the Diesel Spring 2014 ad campaign. After meeting Nicola Formichetti, the artistic director for the Diesel fashion house, on the job, she noticed a casting call for their upcoming campaign and applied for fun. They got in touch and hired her for the Diesel Spring 2014 ad campaign.
Shot by photographer duo Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin, the Diesel Spring 2014 ad campaign is set to run in March issues of such magazines as Vogue and Interview. The fact that the photographers or brand didn't hide her wheelchair is exceptional.
