 Old Curiosity Shop What the Dickens? If that’s what you said when you entered the Old Curiosity Shop in London, you probably wouldn’t be the first. From the exterior, the Old Curiosity Shop is a gorgeously crafted 16th century piece of architecture. Legend has it, the 1567 building was actually the source of inspiration for Charles Dickens’ famous novel about Little Nell who lived with her grandfather in the peculiar store. A step inside reveals, at first glance, that the interior has nothing to do with Victorian times, and everything to do with funky, Japanese fashion. The apparel displayed was all hand crafted by talented designer, Daita Kimura who creates fashion for both men and women. The young cobbler’s collection includes everything from shoes to T-shirts and accessories.  The shop also stocks a range of designer and one-of-a-kind clothes, including the first ready-to-wear collection by Kimura, who has previously designed shoes for the likes of Alexander McQueen and indie label Buddhahood. It was Kimura, in fact, who discovered the historic space about a decade ago and converted it first into a studio and now a store—proof that it takes a guy from Japan to preserve the fine art of English eccentricity.
