 Shoes & Chairs In Desert Theme This Kansas city native prides herself on her unique masterpieces that are inspired by life in the desert. Desert Dada is the creative work of Carolyn Schmitz. Both her shoe and chair paintings strictly contain elements that are found in the desert including plants, animals and even insects. Her paintings are available for $50 each, with a minimum purchase of two pieces.  I never screamed when I saw a spider... or a mouse or snake. As a country-dweller and nature-lover, I spent a lot of my childhood on the ground getting a bug's eye view of the world. Most of my art is an extension of what I did then--drawing, painting, and making things out of rocks, leaves, mud, insect parts, etc. Adult human beings do this too, in their shops and factories; however sophisticated and far removed from nature their processes and materials may be, their source is still the same. I would rather make art, and remain close to that source of all that we have, to the awesomeness of Nature, her beauty, mystery, and danger.
