When the economy puts the pinch on consumers, some places like the Java Street Cafe in Kettering, Ohio let the customer pinch back. Only they don’t. Java Street Cafe lets customers pay what they think is fair. In general, over-paying and under-paying balances out, and business is doing well. According to owner Sam Lippert, “Most people pay pretty close to what we were charging. They like the place and want it to stay around, so they’re being fair in what they choose to pay.”  "People like the fact that someone is letting them take control of at least one little aspect of their lives, especially when so much seems out of their control these days."
