Trend Hunter's Director of Sales Operations, Sean Watson, dives into the Six Cues of Convenience in one of Trend Hunter's Innovation eLearning YouTube series.
In this series of videos, Watson outlines the consumer pressures driving the need for hyper-convenience. This includes information on how only 23% of employees take their whole vacation time, 61% of adults still work while on vacation, and the average attention span of adults has notably decreased in the last 20 years. Brands are responding to this crisis of time by creating products and services that streamline processes, effectively enabling individuals to get more value out of each day.
One Cue of Convenience that Watson covers in depth is gamification, which presents itself in gamified products, services, and experiences. Two insights that exemplify this cue are Gamified Stay, which covers how hotels natively integrate gaming and entertainment into patron experiences, and Gamified Retail, which shows the prevalence of gamified products in shopping, exercising, and other retail sectors.
A secondary Cue of Convenience that Watson draws attention to is Lifestyle & Enjoyment. One insight that reflects this cue is Unstaffed Convenience. This report shows that the Lifestyle & Enjoyment cue manifests itself in the form of automation, effectively saving consumers time while saving business money through automated cashiers, self-service purchasing, and even robot-operated restaurants.
