The Lavaflow 4 Home In Hawaii by Craig Steely
Jessica Marcel — March 28, 2010 — Art & Design
Architect Craig Steely didn't have to do much to make this home amazing. It's situated on the big island of Hawaii, making the exterior almost always more important than the interior of the homes. However, Steely outdid any expectations with the Lavaflow 4 home.
The house features tons of pine and lots of industrial touches. The industrial feel is countered with relaxed island architecture. The photography of the Lavaflow 4 house is by Linny Morris Cunningham.
Implications - Steely's home uses nature in every element to create a luxury abode that retains a homey and welcoming vibe. The untreated pine that builds the home's upper floor is complemented by the home's timber frame which is kept rigid by five large cross braces.
