To get noticed, artists today need to find a really unique edge to gain exposure. Ed Musante has created buzz by selecting cigar boxes as the canvas for his paintings of birds.

His avian cigar box characters range from intricately detailed Barred Owl to birds with vibrant shades in their feathers like a Blue Jay and Yellowhead Blackbird.

The collection is currently being shown at the Paul Thiebaud Gallery in San Francisco.
