For those unfamiliar, chicken karaage is essentially the Japanese take on fried chicken. This dish usually starts with bite-size pieces of chicken thigh that have been dusted with flavor and then deep-fried in hot oil – a departure from the American style that generally uses pieces of chicken breast that have been soaked in buttermilk and then fried.
Trader Joe's own take on Chicken Karaage follows the Japanese recipe by taking tenderized pieces of boneless, skinless, leg meat and infusing them with the flavor of mirin, soy sauce, white wine vinegar, garlic powder, and ginger powder.
