Michelle Jank says she was inspired by “the idea of making something grand out of nothing special/rubbishy things,” for her exclusive Ponystep editorial with Paul Scala.

The shoot took place on a beach in Australia.

“I was inspired by the GFC [global financial crisis],” explains photographer Scala. “The thought that this year, with a lack of money, people will be forced to recycle and reuse ... In this case we used black plastics mixed with fashion pieces.”

Aussie Jank is well known for her iconic jewelery, and has just come back from a dance residency with Aszure Barton in Santa Barbara, where she designed the costumes as part of another dance collaboration. Checkout the video for an insight into this exciting new partnership.

Scala just finished photographing for German Mag TUSH, Dutch magazine Blend, and a feature on James Long for a new magazine called Mykro. Can’t wait to check it out!

Although garbage bag fashions has been done before, it certainly has never looked this chic!

The Chic Garbage Bag Fashionista here would probably love the Surreal Balloontography animals that Ayman Helweh discovered in January.
