There is a growing fad in Japan to have your MP3 player, cell phone or any other personal technology, designed by your favorite celebrity. A number of pop singers, actors and other famous people have signed on to design products that are marketed to the growing number of young, celebrity-obsessed consumers “looking to express their personality through their digital toys,” according to kilian-nakamura.com. 

With a culture that worships celebrities, I see that trend crossing over to America, unless it has done so already without me noticing.
