Meta is launching a new cartoon avatar feature that joins its realm of video conferencing to add a playful touch. The company notes that this is the 'third option' that can be found as something that exists between an audio call and a full video call.
Users are able to use this in video conversation but it will only be the avatar that the other participants are able to see. This way, it creates a sense of privacy without needing to use a digital mask or filter. This is currently available to use online for Messenger and Instagram. The company also notes that avatars have been an ongoing focus and that users have been over a billion of the small cartoons.
