Caribbean Cell Phone Ban

The Caribbean now has a place where visitors don’t have to skip their pagers across the ocean (as seen in the Corona commercial) because the electronic devices are not allowed there in the first place. Elite Island Resorts on Palm Island, a part of the Grenadines has banned mobiles, laptops, and PDAs within a half-mile radius of the Casarina Beach. This is the first Caribbean getaway to ban mobile usage. Photo courtesy of chiacomo on Flickr.

Rob Barrett, chief executive of Elite Island Resorts, said: "There is nothing worse than lying back in your double hammock, sipping on your strawberry daiquiri and hearing the Motorola jingle in the background. (textually.org)
