The Bundle House is a Formal Experiment in Manipulating a Flat Site

The featureless site on which the Bundle House proposal sits was not visually nor experientially interesting enough for designers Jason Orbe-Smith and Keyla Hernandez. A grid was mapped across the lot, and with the aid of computer rendering programs, an exotic new topography was sculpted as a dynamic place for living.

You're looking at a single family home here, is that a surprise? The dull habits of much of domestic architecture have been warped beyond recognition in this project, really challenging imagination, material, technology and aesthetics. A system of organic curves was used to encompass a cluster of interior spaces with trellis-like walls that flow into roofs that provide moments of both shelter and exposure. The Bundle House's unfamiliar fluidity blends well with its landscaped surroundings and perhaps better with the colorful lives of its inhabitants.
