Cringe alert: the Wall Street Journal picked their top innovations for 2008. In the Medical Devices area, they gave the gold to Vidacare for the EZ-IO. It’s a high speed drill with a super-duper needle to (pucker up) bore into bones and inject meds or other fluids. If I ever need this, I don’t want to know that it was used on me, I have a pucker factor with my water pic.

Implications - In today's modern industry it is imperative that businesses devote their efforts to providing products that are reflective of the latest technology innovations. In doing so, they will find that tech-obsessed and tech-driven consumers will likely invest in their products on a more regular basis.

Would love to see a video fo this one in action. Orlowski published a study showing how IO is statistically similar to Central line and better than Peripheral IV. The ez-io has a its 250 insertions summerized on its web site under the research section. I have witnessed someone use the EZ-IO, BIG and FAST 1. The EZ-IO is by far the best option. They like its user controllability (if that is a word), the Impact is miniml which translates to less micro fractures in surrounding bone, a more defined border with less extrasfasation (once again sp?) from arond the catheter and into the superficial tissue. It seems that every field tech should have this medical supply at their disposal if they are trained in how and when to use it. Great product.
