Apple's proximity technology has resulted in several innovative beacon applications, especially in retail. But now a Texas-based development shop called Chaotic Moon is using the technology to monitor the activities and whereabouts of their interns.

Located in Austin, the development studio has both engineering interns and 'gophers' who help with general tasks rather than development. The second staff group can be difficult to keep track of if they aren't always on their computers. So Chaotic Moon created the Gopher Tracker. Through this technology, missing interns can receive messages if they are needed.

While this is only being used internally, it could serve as a jumping off point for external clients looking for creative beacon applications.
