With his bamboo flashlight, this designer has pointed out an opportunity for manufacturers to make everyday devices more sustainably assembled. Jordan Koroknai demonstrates that it is not always necessary to build molds and to make plastic or metal, all resulting in a great economic and environmental cost over an object that will eventually be chucked.

The Bamboo Torch is an accommodating design that relies on a natural case made from woody grass. The fast-growing plant produces a hard, durable and anti-bacterial housing for the electrical components of this crucial camping device. Energy-efficient LEDs, batteries and a switch are all neatly held within this bamboo flashlight, which ends up looking appropriately organic for outdoor use.
