Angry Grandmother Ads

The Atheons Hummus Ads by Droga5 Portray a Furious Greek Grandma

Advertising agency Droga 5 has released their latest series of ads for Kraft Foods product Athenos Hummus. To advertise the delightful Greek spread the advertising agency chose the traditional Greek grandmother known as yiayia as the commercial spokesperson for the brand.

The Athenos Hummus commercials start of with different people enjoying the Athenos products until they ask, “Let’s see what yiayia thinks.” Greek grandmothers are strict and believe in strong and old-fashioned family values. In the Athenos Hummus ad a woman is dressing too provocative for yiayia's liking and deems her a prostitute.

The ads have sparked some controversy among Greek patrons saying that this is not how Greek people should be potrayed, however many might get a few laughs out of this eccentric Athenos Hummus campaign.
