Atelier Olschinsky Breaks Down Big Cities From a Bird's-Eye View

This incredible illustrative series, appropriately entitled 'Cities' was created by digital design firm Atelier Olschinsky. Not fooled by the extravagance of a metropolitan downtown core filled with endless skyscrapers and a concrete jungle, Oschinsky's illustrations draw a more holistic picture that depicts the reality of this jungle in a way that shows them as the mindless creations that they are.

The Vienna-based multi-disciplinary design studio dabbles in all types of media from graphic design to web, illustration, animation and photography. Despite the diversity in the individual designs, the broader observable patterns within the different cities are undeniable, and a bit saddening because it sheds light on the reality of this increasingly urbanized world.

Implications - Digital design is on the rise as computers and photo editing software become increasingly more capable of creating hyperrealistic images that are captivating and thought-provoking. The variety of mediums for art that exist as a result of this still developing technology has created more jobs for artists and more platforms for consumerism and art.
