In the beginning of skateboarding, the boards didn’t have grip tape, fancy trucks, or a pro designed deck. They were straight wood meant for racing or travel. Arniko Skateboards, out of Nepal, are going back to those roots with a little flavour in their handcarved slalomboards (still a skateboard, just implies the travel part other than tricks). The art of woodcarving is treasured in Nepal and the guys at Arniko are feeling good about everything they’ve been given so far. There are 9 carved designs to choose from as well as clothing and accessories that Arniko offers. The carving of these boards reminds us how skilled and beautiful this lost art is.
