Arena Page's Collection is Made Using 3D Modeling

A student at the London College of Fashion, Arena Page has created a fashion collection that centers on mathematics and geometry.

Her debut fashion line, inspired by The Mobius Strip (a single-sided surface), is an exploration in geometry and the relationship between math and beauty, featuring modern and futuristic orgami-like cuts and silhouettes. Using 3D modeling, Page creates her design, but subsequently "flattens" it into a 2D image, from which a pattern is made on paper and fabric, and then combined together to create a 3D form. The process goes from a 3D design to a 2D one, then back again to 3D, and in this way, as FashioningTech.com points out, the designer is able to make designs that look exceedingly intricate and complex using only a few pattern pieces.
